About Jeannine
Jeannine Vargas (she/her) is a born and raised LA native. Initially a Psychology major at Pasadena City College, Jeannine decided to pursue a Theater Degree after randomly taking an elective acting class that unveiled her childhood dream of becoming an actor. After taking more acting classes at PCC, Jeannine decided to audition for short films and booked her first audition with the short film Sweet 15 (available on Youtube). To pursue acting as a professional career, Jeannine decided to quit her full time job in retail and in the middle of leaving, she went on to book her first leading role in the feature film B-Side: For Taylor as the titular Taylor Wagner. B-Side: Taylor is available for streaming on Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, Tubi, and more.
After graduating PCC with three associate’s degrees (Social & Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, and Theatre), Jeannine took her education further by transferring into the Theatre program at UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film, and Television, joining the Acting Class of 2025 cohort. As a student here, Jeannine was heavily inspired by the passion and dedication of her fellow classmates and teachers and is super grateful for the people she’s met through this program, especially her fellow Theater Transfers cohort of 2025. She took it upon herself to practice her craft in a field that was still new to her by being a part of theatre productions in almost every quarter, even doing three shows in one quarter at one point.
Some of the productions she had the privilege of being a part of include The Time of Your LIfe, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Fly (an original play by Cerulean Long performed at the annual Bruin Fringe Festival), Yesterday Once More (an original jukebox musical by Barbie Ross that include songs from The Carpenters), and The Seagull. In the Summer of 2024, Jeannine also had the privilege of traveling to Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival through the Los Angeles Theatre Initiative theater company with the Neo-Futurist show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind: 30 Plays in 60 Minutes.
As someone whose introduction to acting and theater was in community college, Jeannine hopes to further develop her craft by taking in as much experience and knowledge available to her and to stay curious and continue learning about the world, humanity, empathy, and herself.
