About Jess

Jess Reed (she/her) is an actress, entertainer, and writer currently based in Los Angeles, California but she loves to talk about her hometown of Fairbanks, Alaska. While attending UCLA Jess has fostered her creativity through writing and directing several of her own works, including Pardners in UCLA TFT’s 2022 Bruin Fringe Festival and Snowspider in Spring of 2025 with Untitled Theatre Company (a student theatre group).

In the process of earning her Bachelor of Arts in theater with a Minor in Film and Television, she also spent a semester studying at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand. Her acting took her to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024 as the character B in Vanishing with In-Version Ensemble, a new theater company of which she is a proud founding member.

Jess has always loved acting and playwriting, with her first play A for Annabelle, written at 15 years old being chosen to be performed at the Alaska Statewide Playwright Festival aka the 8x10s. Before attending theatre school full-time, her high school had no drama department, but she never let that stop her, writing and performing for the University of Alaska Fairbanks and appearing in numerous community productions. Jess was impassioned to pursue playwriting especially after she was cast as Lee in A List of Happenings, an original play by MFA student Anna Watts and got to witness the problem-solving process of building an entire show upon original text with the creator in the room. As an artist, Jess is focused on finding ways to distill moments of life into words on pages and watch them take on a whole new form as they grow with the helping hands of all of her inspiring collaborators.
