About Maya
Maya Tanaka (she/her) is a passionate and curious actor from Los Angeles, California. After finding a love for performance in community college, she transferred to UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television in 2023 to pursue her BA in Theater. At UCLA she has performed in two productions, playing the hilarious but misguided Cheryl Mindle in The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (TFT-mainstage) and the bandit Rufino in The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs (TFT-mainstage). She strives to stay creative and true to herself through her acting process in both theater and film/television.

Maya hopes to uplift and empower Japanese American women through various genres of storytelling. From light comedy to gritty drama, she keeps urgent social and political issues close to her heart, making sure to bring this awareness to her work. She believes that art has the power to make substantial change, and recognizes the personal and communal connection that art creates. She hopes to be able to perform in some capacity for the rest of her life.
